PRESS RELEASE - NEW YORK, NY — The New Heritage Theatre Group proudly announces that Executive Producer Voza Rivers was honored at the City College of New York President’s Circle Dinner, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the historic University Club of New York.
Hosted on behalf of CCNY President Vincent Boudreau and Senior Vice President Dee Dee Mozeleski, the elegant evening gathered distinguished alumni, civic leaders, and arts patrons to celebrate the presentation of the President’s Medal, one of the College’s highest honors.
This year’s honorees included Mr. Seymour “Sy” Sternberg ’65, Mr. Voza Rivers, and Mr. Lloyd Williams (in memoriam) — three exemplary leaders whose lifelong commitment to community, culture, and education embodies the spirit of The City College of New York.
The evening began with cocktails at 6:00pm, followed by dinner at 7:00pm, during which heartfelt remarks recognized each recipient’s enduring impact. In his tribute, President Boudreau highlighted Rivers’ decades-long legacy in Harlem’s arts and cultural community through his leadership at the New Heritage Theatre Group and Harlem Week.
“Voza Rivers represents the best of CCNY’s mission — transforming creativity into community,” said President Boudreau. “His work has connected generations of artists to Harlem’s global story.” Rivers, who accepted the medal before an audience of peers and supporters, reflected on the honor as a recognition of Harlem’s artistic resilience.
“This award is a testament to the artists, storytellers, and cultural workers who built Harlem’s foundation,” Rivers said. “I share this honor with the New Heritage Theatre Group and with every creative voice that continues to uplift our community.”
Located in Harlem, the New Heritage Theatre Group is New York State’s oldest Black nonprofit theater company, dedicated to promoting the multiple voices of the African diaspora through theater, film, dance, music, and cultural partnerships.
