CELEBRATE THE LAUNCH OF HARLEM IS...

Closing out 2020 with a Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Harlem Is…
& The Launch of www.harlem-is.org

As we close out this tumultuous year, Voza and I are delighted to share some good news to lift your spirits. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of harlem is… and we are proud to announce the launch of the harlem is… website - www.harlem-is.org - the new digital home for the harlem is… digital exhibitions, virtual events, and educational activities devoted to honoring the living legacy of local heroes in the iconic Harlem neighborhood.

We invite you to explore and engage with the new website at www.harlem-is.org! As Voza and I reflect on our 20-year journey together to produce and present this landmark public art project, our perseverance demonstrates how, in uncertain times, we can shift to a digital platform to sustain the essential work of documenting and sharing stories about the healing power of community. As such, our newest series, harlem is...Healing honors 40 local heroes of the pandemic—doctors, artists, social organizers, educators and faith leaders—whose work is sustaining the spirit of community in Harlem.

Read the 20th Anniversary Commemorative Journal!
The website also hosts our newest digital publication, the harlem is...20th Anniversary Commemorative Journal. Here we celebrate you, the magnificent community that has supported our exhibitions and programs throughout the years. The journal is an archive of accomplishments, featuring six powerful essays from harlem is… advisors and creatives, and it is a vision statement for what comes next for harlem is…, including the permanent exhibition installation at the Harlem Hospital Center! You can download your copy here.
